Remove the proper amount of antifreeze from the radiator. Now grab the top radiator hose that is located on the passanger side and follow it into the engine. Remove the part that is located above the thermostat houseing (Camshaft Actuator Solenoid) Should only be two bolts. Now remove the two bolts holding the thermostat housing . Now remove the thermostat and replace with the new. Now reverse the procedure. Remove the water supply hose from the top of your 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. Lift the old thermostat out. Drop the new thermostat in and reverse the process.
You need only to drain off a couple quarts of coolant to change the thermostat.
