It is not hard. Take off the serpentine belt then remove the plastic cove on the passenger side behind the wheel. You will have to remove the pulley then. Unbolt the water pump and remove it. Make sure surfaces are clean install new pump. I would recomend draining the coolant and replacing it.
for 2001 Dodge Caravan: How to remove the water pump. The main problem with this particular removal is when you try to remove the pump it becomes impossible because the water pump hits the frame of the van.
Solution: Release two of the passanger side motor mount bolts(the two located closest to the front of the van), then loosen the third just a bit, this will drop the engine enought for the removal of the water pump. You do not have to drop the entire engine, simply loosen the motor mount bolt and you will create enough space to remove the defective water pump.
PS. to remove the serpentine belt, simply use a pair of channel locks, pull down on the tensioner pulley and the belt will become slack enought for removal.
I can get to it but how does one get it out?
If you remove the right front plastic fender liner on the caravan, the water pump is lower right of the engine.
Yes.
The AC drain on a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan EX is located underneath the front of the vehicle. Often, when the drain is clogged, water will leak into your vehicle and get the floorboards wet.
yes
very carefully.
It is directly below centre of pump.
Water is leaking on passenger side floor board when heat is on
Rear most and lowest pulley on the serpentine belt.
I paid about 200 last year- that was for parts and labor.
Head gasket, timing cover gasket, or hose leaking.
behind the timing cover you should change the timing belt when you change water pump.
