How do you change the starter in a 1991 Buick Regal 3.8 6-cylinder?

My 13-year old son and I just changed the starter on my 1992 Buick Regal 3.1 6-cylinder and it took about 2 hours (it was my first starter change). I have the shop manual and the instructions don't look any different for the 91 3.8. 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable (the hardest part of the whole job) 2. Raise and support the vehicle (just the front) 3. There may be a splash shield to remove (mine didn't have one) 4. If equiped, unfasten the flywheel inspection cover bolts and remove the cover (again, mine didn't have this) 5. Disconnect and label the elctrical connections from the starter. Mine had three wires connected to the top large-bolt electrical connection and one on the smaller side connection. 6. Remove the two bolts holding the starter to the engine. 7. Carefully lower the starter from the car. It looked impossible to get it out, but with a bit of wiggling, it came out easily. Reverse the process to put the new starter back in. THIS IS AN EASY JOB.THE STARTER IS ON THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR,JUST BEHIND THE RADIATOR.FIRST DISCONNECT THE BATTERY.THEN DISCONNECT THE TWO TRANNY OIL COOLING LINES.YOU WILL LOSE SOME FLUID, SO BE READY. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU ENOUGH ROOM TO WIGGLE THE STARTER IN AND OUT.REMOVE THE TWO BOLTS AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS ANDREVERSE TO INSTALL.REMEMBER TO REPLACE ANY TRANNY FLUID YOU MAY HAVE LOST.THIS JOB TOOK ME 40 MINUTES JUST USING A JACK AND JACKSTANDS.
