Any work under the hood of a car could be a technical process.
See related links for instructions.
ANS 2 You should take this opportunity to totally change the Transmission Fluid. To do this properly, first raise the front of the car about 1 foot, brace it up on blocks (I won't insult you by explaining simple stuff like that ) then disconnect the lower trans coolant line from the rad. Put a 5 gallon bucket under this line. now start and idle the engine in 'Park' . Fluid will slowly pump out into the bucket as the system empties. Takes 10-15 minutes. When no more fluid comes out, shut off engine and drop trans pan, remove and change filter and gasket, replace pan and bolt up carefully using opposing bolt method. Now disconnect both coolant lines from transmission and fit the new ones. When all is together, lower the car and pour in new fluid, EXACTLY the same amount as came out into the bucket. Have 2 litres spare fluid handy. Now switch on and idle the engine again, when engine/trans is warm measure fluid on the dipstick. Now add to recommended level on dipstick.
This method replaces the fluid from the convertor, that never normally gets changed when you just do the trans pan.
Now you've done a simple job that would have cost you 3-400 at the garage !
i got quoted 12 hours
Carefully
Some do and some don't. Crawl under the vehicle, follow the transmission lines to the radiator, and see if there is an secondary cooler anywhere. If it came with the factory towing package it does.
No there is no filter ur best bet will be a transmission flush at a oil change place
Drain the radiator. Remove all of the hoses. Remove the transmission cooler lines if equipped with an automatic transmission. Remove the fan shroud. Remove the bolts that hold the top radiator support in place. Lift the radiator out.
It should not matter as one is pressure and the other is return from the transmission oil cooler.
The engine oil and the transmission oil both are inside the radiator, the engine oil cooler is at the driver side and the other one is at the passenger side.
Purchase the cooler of your choice. They come with complete instructions. Very easy job, and this would be a good time to change your transmission fluid.
trasmision lines from cooler radiator a big problems of leaks from them i have that rite now must change all if not mistaken 3 diffrent its like presure hoses but from cooler to transmission and from transmission to cooler rite back of the front grill of the cat the transmission cooler is there folow with your eyes for leaks.
Your best bet for a superior transmission flush would be to go to bgfindashop.com and locate a shop near you. The BG system has a cleaner that is used first. Then they do a total fluid exchange to include the transmission cooler and a conditioner is added. Also doing it with their system does NOT require that the filter be changed. And if your milage is okay you will get a guarantee.
unbolt crossmember, remove transmission mount, use wood clamp to pull transmission to side, cut knuckles 10,000 times, curse up a storm, use a 45 degree pick and snag the clip to pop it. PAIN IN the BOOTIE!
If there are lines coming from the transmission to the radiator, it has a cooler in the radiator. If there are lines from the transmission to an external heat exchanger, that would be an auxiliary cooler.
