open the bonnet
Depends on which relay switch however main relay switches on a ford Mondeo mk2 are usually found in the fuse box under the bonnet at the rear of the battery The fuse box is usually a large black box with a clip and hinge
open the bonnet and as you stand facing the car small black rubber pyramid sticking out of slam panel is the top part remove headlight to gain access to main part of switch applicable to my year 2000 one anyway
Open the door with your key and pull the bonnet release.
On the bonnet, slide the Ford oval and insert the ignition key into the lock located there

Kept happening on my own Mondeo. In the end removed the horn in the boot. Later found out it was the bonnet switch. Either replace it or give it a good going over with WD40. Worth a try.
Swivel ford badge on front grill, insert ign. key turn clockwise, then anticlockwise. Bonnet opened
DEALER SAYS PRESS THE LEVER UNDER THE FRONT BADGE ON THE OUTSIDE GRILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM
Flip the badge over on the front, there will be a key hole behind it... ... Stick your ignition key in, and turn it one way, then the other (as described by diagrams on the lock)... Your bonnet will then pop open
