Remove the center console remove the floor vent remove the heater core cover the heater core is right under the climate control unit remove the two screws that hold the heater core in place, open the hood and remove the heater hose from the heater core lines, now go inside and pull out the old heater core you don't have to remove the whole dash just the front of it
Fuse- Blower Motor- Wiring- Selector switch fail- i8f you still have heat to the heater core, if the heater core is cold, and the mottr is still hot... change the thermostat

Sounds like your heater core is leaking. Does the fluid look/smell like antifreeze? if so, time for a new heater core.
If a 2001 VW Beetle does not have hot air coming from the heater there is a problem with the vehicles heating system. The heater core is malfunctioning and will need to be replaced.

Your heater core could be plugged. I've had it happen to a 98 and an 01 S10 pickup. I flushed the core both directions and it heats like crazy now.
An 01 impala only has to meet the emissions requirements in effect on the date of manufacture. It does not have to meet more recent, more stringent standards.
