You cant do it yourself unless you have a special tool, I think an axle puller, but I cant remember for sure what it was. I had to take it to the shop to get it done, it cost me about 215 dollars. And now a year later the driver side wheel bearing needs to be replaced.
00' Malibu no special tools. It's been a while but something like a large torx (6 point type) drive 50 or 55, some where around 30 or 34 mm socket. Big tools but nothing out of the ordinary.
I replaced mine because of a speed sensor problem that turned out to be a cut wire 6" away from hub. Patched and good to go.
It's a unitized bearing/speed sensor. Remove three torx bolts, one big axle/hub nut. Slide off end of axle. Slide new one onto axle shaft, bolt into place, plug in speed sensor. No need to remove axle. I bought a bearing off eBay for $50 two years ago, still is good. Should take 1 hr if you take your time.
Three large torx bolts 70 ft lbs, hub nut 185 ft lbs, brake bracket 85 ft lbs, caliper guide bolts 23 ft lbs, lug nut 100 ft lb.
Depending an where you live and which shop you have do the work about $300.00
Remove the tire and wheel from your Chevy Lumina. Remove the end of the axle. Remove the wheel bearing nut. Remove the wheel bearing seal and the wheel bearing. Reverse the process to install the new front wheel bearing.
blown brake hose, front passenger side in 1997 chevy malibu?
It sounds like you have more probalem than wheel bearing. TAke it to a front end shop
2005 Chevy Malibu, shocks in rear, Struts in front.
Remove spindle cap, cotter pin, spindle nut, outer bearing. Now you can pull off the rotor which has another bearing on the back and a seal.
Like you change the tires on any other car...
My 1999 Chevy Malibu has a fuse box under the front hood,
Yup
Remove the positive battery cable from your 2000 Chevy Malibu battery. Remove the cables from the front of the starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new starter.
