To change a license plate bulb for a 2002 Suburban, no tools are needed. Just reach up under the back bumper just behind the license plate light that needs changing. Grip the bulb holder and rotate it to release it from the slot. Once released, you can pull the wire with the bulb attached down below the bumper to see it fully. Once you see it, pull the bad bulb straight out of the holder, then push a new bulb back into the bulb holder. While you still have the wire suspended below the bumber, turn on the running lights to make sure the new bulb works. Once it does work successfully, push the wire back behind the bumper, put the bulb back in its slot, and rotate the bulb holder until it clicks back into place. And, you're done.
