You should not by pass the egr it works with the emissionand your Jeep will not comply with federal emissionsstandards and may cause harm to your engine.It is there for a reason !!

I'd vote for the injectors. Try a professional fuel injection cleaning. Occasionally run it up to 3500 rpm for 30 seconds in low gear to keep breaking up the carbon deposits.

It is located underneath the hood. You might have to clean it off with a rag to read it.

the 4.0l s.o.h.c. enging has a timing chain tensioner kit. wich is suposed to fix the slight ping on start up. check with your locad dealer with your VIN # and have them check to see if you have any RECALLS on that issue.. ie only fix if the prob is thier..

Good luck Ctwistedpair@aol.com It is under the pass headlight, under the bumper cover.you have to remove the whole battery assembly to get to it then feel for it in the fender wall use a small 8mm wrench or 1/4 inch drive socket set granted how rusted your battery hold down bolts are it should take about two hours taking your time its very tight fit to get to but, manageable good luck!
