Remove the rear wheel, you now have access to the brake drum. to remove it may be another story. There may be a few obstacles. First may be adjustment: You need to access the the backing plate, and remove the rubber plug if equipped. Then using a brake adjusting tool, back off the adjuster. It this still does not release it may be because of 2 more possibilities, one is a frozen drum to the hub (take a large hammer and hit between the studs-DON'T HIT THE STUDS. Second may be a worn drum from the linings wearing into it. Take it to a pro at this point, you may still lose the shoes or hardware in the process. Good luck, BClear
AREN'T THE REARS ON ALL GRAND MARQ's DISC BRAKES AFTER 1990 ?
No. Optional equipment with the ABS system through at least 1993.
I know that 1992+ are discs, but the rears have drums built into them for the emergency brake. So the answer is: Yes and no. However, to access the rear emergency brake pads is a different process than is typical for a rear drum setup.
It involves removing the axle shafts, so I would recommend taking it to a shop.
