How do you reset the oil life light on Mercury Mariner? Dealer didn;t reset at oil change & we are out of state now. Thanks
Place the key into the #2 position (do not start engine). With the oil remaining light showing on the odometer, press and hold reset post for 10 seconds until it starts blinking, then let go. Press it again for 5 seconds and it should reset back to 100%.
I have a 2006 Pilot and I reset the oil life meter by holding in the dash button (the one used to toggle between the odometer, outside temp, oil life, etc) for 30 seconds. It starts to flash at about 20 seconds and will reset at 30 seconds.
push in the info button on the dash a series of times until fuel life comes up and it will say reset fuel life then hold the button until it says reset it will then display fuel life 100 persent
It is part of the Oil Life Management system developed by GM. The oil change light indicaes that your oil should be changed within the next two tankfulls of gas. The Driver Information Center (DIC) will show very low oil life percentage at this point. It must be reset at the time of your oil change. It can be reset by using the reset button on the Driver Informatin Center or by the procedure outlined in the manual. Turn the key to the on position just before the starter engages. Fully depress the gas pedal 3 times in five seconds then the oil light should flash then go out. Turn the key off then go through the start procedure to see if you got it right. This procedure is almost a game at dealerships with bets being made. Keep trying and review the procedure in your manual.
Cycle to where you view the percentage of oil life. Hold the odometer reset peg for about 15 seconds until you see it flash or beep (not sure which one), then let go and push it once again. The second push should reset your maintenance light and oil life indicator.
