A water pump does not need "oil" or oiling. If it is making noise then it needs replacement because the bearings are probably failing. If you are replacing coolant, but don't see where it is going, then could be that it is leaking slightly at the wheep hole just below the pulley.
Oil check valves are designed to stop the drain-back of oil. A replacement valve costs between $25 and $30 depending on where you buy it.
The Geo Metro hatchback may take up to 4 or 4.5 quarts of oil.

The type of oil that should be put into a 1995 Geo Metro is 5 W 30. The car uses approximately 5 quarts of oil.
Was told a 93 Geo Metro with high miles should us 10W30.

it can work! but you need exchange de oil pan, oil pump, timing gear, and timing belt cover! also the ditribuitor, I did already on my 97 Geo , using a 95 motor and it work perfect! sounds complicate but is real ease!
