∙ 12y agoFirst off this is a job. Just preparing to do it on the same truck. Here is the fruits of my months of research, and here is a list of parts you will need
clutch pedal assembly
clutch master cilinder
man-trans computer (if you have a MAS you need to ensure you have the proper one)
new floor plate for shifter
shifter boot and floor mount.
new cross member with manual trans bracket installed
M5OD-R2 (that is what came with the truck originality although other will work)
fly wheel for a 302 or 351 (which ever you have)
optional parts to make the build look clean
new column plastic cover
PRND21 blanker (comes out very easy)
Best bet to get these parts is one of 3 ways. One (as I did) go to a junk yard and pull them all at once off a similar vehicle (92-96 Ford bronco 150-250-350 for most things cosmetic transmission not so sure)
2 buy a working vehicle for like 500 bucks and swap them
3 attempt to buy new. if you can find them big $$$$$$$
you will need to install the clutch pedals and master cylinder assembly first. Remove old cross member and then you drop your e40d and transfer case. ensure your car is in park or neutral before you do this so it will again start. once you dropped the assembly separate the tx case and mount it to your new transmission. note you have to remove your old floor board in the center where the shift lever goes to access the bolts. now remove old flywheel from the motor. install clutch packet to the new one. Install new flywheel and clutch packet to the motor. Install the new tranny and tx case. Connect speedometer cables. remove old computer and install the manual one. should be good to go

∙ 12y agoand automatic transmission does not require tranny fluid, as it is a "manual" and not automatic
For the manual transmission ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid ) For the automatic transmission ( Motorcraft MERCON - V - automatic transmission fluid According to the Owner Guide
on an automatic transmission 5-6 quarts and on manual tranny 2 1/2 - 3
YESSS ! ATF Automatic tranny fluid MTF Manual tranny fluid many different brands mtf so just pick when you feeling like you need.
If it is a manual transmission you do not have transmission cooler lines. If its an automatic they will be on one side of the radiator and you can follow them to the tranny from there.
If its an automatic just add the fluid right through the dipstick tube, If its a manual theres a plug to remove on the tranny (drivers side I believe) and just add it through there.
According to the 1998 F150 owners manual , the 5 speed manual transmission takes Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid ( YES , ATF ! )
The transmission filter is on the drivers side of the car on the front of the transmission. You may need to remove the air cleaner to get a good turn on it. Good luck. --------------------------------- Automatic tranny has a filter. Manual tranny does not
There is no filter in a manual tranny. if you have an automatic there is still no removable filter in it.
can you answer the question i have a 1990 ford ranger with a Mazda manual transmission what fluid does it require
The Question Is A Bit Of A Quirk. If You Have An Automatic Tranny The OD Should Be Automatic. But Yes They Would Be The Same, Or Per se. The Same Principle
ATF = Automatic Tranny Fluid MTF - Manual Tranny Fluid Many different brands so pick what you like just make sure its MTF Trust points are greatly appreciated M-Eight Auto Modifications
