Assuming that you are talking about one of the bumper break lights, you first remove the inside rear panel of the trunk. There are usually several large plastic screws that use a US quarter as a screw driver, and possible two small screws that hold a contact plate near the power pull down. Once you have removed the inside panel, you will see large black wingnuts. Thread them off on the side that you need to replace the brake light, and then push them firmly out. The tail light assembly should slide away from the body and you will see the tail light connectors from the back. The connector is held in place by a retaining piece much like child proof pill bottles. Squeeze the sides of the connector while turning and the bulb and connector will come out in your hand.
You must remove the fuel tank.
Pop the trunk, pull back the trunk liner, remove the 5 plastic screws/wingnuts, and separate light assembly from the car, remove the bulbs and replace.
