I often tear off a small amount of plastic scouring pad, the type used in your kitchen to clean the pans, then I work that around inside the socket until the contacts are relatively free from rust and corrosion. After it's clean use an automotive dielectric grease to protect the socket from further corrosion.
check for common ground that is broken or corroded and reattach to a clean bare metal surface
Short in the wiring or the lamp holder for the tail light is corroded.
Short in the wiring or one of the tail light sockets is corroded or shorted out.
Dead short to ground in either: Parking light socket or wire to Tail light socket or wire to Dash panel lights Remove 1 bulb and/or socket at a time to try to determine which is bad
Check to see if fixture is corroded Make sure circuit is grounded Cut wire before socket to see if you are getting power through wire
The socket size for the trunk tail light on a 2001 Buick LeSabre is 7mm. Bulbs can be purchased at most local automotive repair stores.
To change the tail light bulbs in a 1989 Celebrity sedan: 1. Inside the trunk near the quarter panel are 3 nuts. Remove the middle nut, it should be in the center of the tail light fixture. 2. Pull back on the tail light fixture so the stud clears the body. 3. Pull outward on the tail light fixture to clear a tab out of the backup light assembly. 4. Twist the appropriate socket counter clockwise to remove the socket from the tail light assembly. 5. Change the bulb and put the socket back in the tail light fixture. Reverse the removal process to reinstall the tail light fixture onto the car.

Step 1: Ensure engine is off, key is removed, and park brake is engaged. Step 2: Lower the tailgate.Step 3: With a Phillips screwdriver, loosen and remove the 2 Phillips retaining screws that secure the tail light assembly to the vehicle. The screws are located just inside the tailgate area aside the tail light assembly.Step 4: Grasp the tail light assembly and gently slide it horizontally and away from the vehicle.Step 5: Grasp the desired light socket and gently twist counterclockwise to remove the socket out of the tail light assembly.Step 6: Remove and replace the old bulb and reinsert socket into tail light assembly. Gently twist the socket clockwise and ensure socket is properly seated, snug and secure.Step 7: Gently reinsert the tail light assembly back onto the vehicle. In doing so, ensure the tail light assembly guide tabs are properly aligned and inserted into the vehicle's guide slots for secure fitment.Step 8: Secure the tail light assembly using the 2 Phillips retaining screws.
First, open the gate to the truck box. There will be 2 screws that need to be taken out for each tail light, located where the truck box gate latch catches the sides of the truck box on each side of the vehicle and about 5 inches below the latch connection. After removing the 4 screws, the tail light covers can be removed by gently pulling toward the back of the vehicle. The tail light covers are connected to the truck, so be careful not to break any connections or wires. When the tail lights covers are loose, twist to unlock each tail light housing from the tail light cover. Pull out the tail light from its socket, replace with a new bulb, lock the tail light housing and socket in to the tail light cover. Finally, put the tail light cover back into place and replace both of the screws which secure the tail light cover into its housing.
Remove license plate, dissconnect backup light wire, remove bolts to backup light, pull backup light sideways, reach hand to tail light, twist socket.
