Requires a hydraulic press to remove and install.
I am having my strut bushings and sway bar links replaced for $330 in northern IL. NOT at the dealer. They wanted $800.

A loose strut. There is a nut at the top of the strut that is sort of difficult to tighten. Get a box wrench for the nut and slip it over the strut shaft. Notice the top of the shaft of the strut - it's not exactly round. It's sort of oval, thus enabling you to hold that with vice grips. Place the vice grips on the shaft. Hold the vice and tighten the nut. Don't over tighten Same thing happened to my car. Hope this helps.
could be the rear strut bushings are bad.
I heard it referred to as Strut Rod Bushings at the Control Arm
A tie is a support that does its work by resisting tension forces. A strut is a support that resists compression forces, struts do NOT have to be vertical.Ties put tension on the object, while Struts put compression. Example: A balcony.

If you have high mileage, check your strut mounts as well as the control arms, bushings etc.
remove the 22mm bolt at the top that holds the strut to the car DO NOT REMOVE THE 19MM NUT ON THE STRUT ITSELF UNLESS YOU HAVE USED A SPRING COMPRESSOR TO RELIEVE TENSION OF THE SPRING
Yes. It is possible to purchase just the coil. Entire strut / coil assemblies can also be purchased for a very simple unit assembly as well.
Probably a control arm bushing, possibly a strut mount or stabilizer bar bushing. Mine was the control arm bushing, 2001 Windstar Sport pkg.
