There's a number of things to look into when trying to trouble-shoot 'sputtering', poor idle.

∙ 15y agoI was looking at the 1999 Ford Windstar Owner Guide engine compartment drawings , and it shows : When standing at the front of the vehicle looking into the engine compartment The 3.0 liter V6 engine has the engine oil fill cap on the right side of the engine valve cover , near the battery The 3.8 has it on the left side near the alternator

MINE WAS DOING THE SAME THING AND IT WAS THE EGR VALVE!! THAT FIXED IT AND IT'S RUNNING GREAT!!:)GOOD LUCK
The 1999 Chevy Geo Metro 1.0 liter engine PCV valve can be found on top of the engine. The PCV valve will be behind the air cleaner housing.
