Yes, it screws out and has a simple connector. Look in a manual for the exact location of the sensor. In earlier models it was on the engine block, near the starter.
The knock sensor just advances and retards the engine timing only. If there is a noise in the engine then you have engine are valve train problems. The knock sensor will not make the engine knock.

On the 5.4 the knock sensor is under the intake and the connector is in the back of the motor on the passenger side.
