The Ford Escape went into production in 2000. So there is no 94 Escape
You can put 245 70 16 tires on the 2009 Ford Escape but you will need to change the rims. This model comes with the standard rim that is 17 inches.
On a 2003 Ford Escape : Open the drivers door and on the latch pillar you will see an information sticker . One of the things it shows is the original size of tires on the vehicle from the factory

My 1995 Ford Explorer XLT has 15" X 7.0 " - J rims with 235/75 R 15 all terrain tires ( original Ford aluminum alloy rims) on a 2000 limited the size is 30.1" X 10" or 255/70 R16 Alternate wheel is 16"x7" as on my 95 2Dr Sport. It came with 255/70R16 tires that are 29" OD - and room for a larger tire.
