On the top of the engine in the back by the firewall.
It would depend on your state's emision laws. absolutley, you wont have any problems and if you keep the 3.5" pipe it wont hardly be any louder exept for more turbo scream and better response.
it is located under the back of the turbo in the high presure oil pump cover near the ipr
no, the exhaust bolts on at a different place for turbo and non turbo engines you can probably use most of the exhaust but will have to get different engine pipes to hook up between engine and rest of exhaust
Well you can run straight exhaust if you really want to. But back pressure is the best thing for the truck.
It doesn't
The exhaust back pressure sensor or EBP on the 04 is located by the upper radiator hose by the block. It has a 3 pin connector and accepts a 24mm socket.
Driver side of the engine low back.
Hey well the thing that's nice about a PSD is that the turbo is technically the back pressure on the motor, so, yes you can run a 5 inch straight exhaust on it. I have a 97 PSD with a custom made 4 inch stainless steel exhaust and it sounds amazing. A benefit from straight piping it is that the turbo spools up a little bit quicker. Also I gained about 1 to 1.5 MPG with running straight pipes. I go to school for Auto/Diesel so I am learning a lot that I have had questions about. If you want to know anything more email me and I'll help you out or if I don't know an answer ill ask one of the teachers at my school who is a Ford Master Tech. Sean@smwebber.com
Pipes vibrate when they are pushing air back and forth.
yes, they are legal, true dual pipes are the best type of pipes that you can buy. compared to "single and a double pipes" which aren't loud at all. of course there are straight pipes which have no cat converters, but those sound like crap. so basically if you have true dual pipes you have the best money can buy
my 7.3 powerstroke will start sputtering while going down the road. then i can start it back up then it would run fine. thanks for your help
