The #6 Glow plug is the third one from the front of the truck on the driver side.
on top of engine on passenger side behind warm air relay they look the same but the glow plug relay is the shorter one
The most probable cause is that one or multiple heater plugs are faulty.
there are fore thin black pipes one from each injectore above the glow plugs these are easly disloged and diesel will escape from these, check they are all pushed into place.

Diesel is let into the combustion chamber to start the engine. A bad or even disconnected glow plug will allow diesel to leak from the chamber into the exhaust. The fuel is then ignited in the exhaust pipe and produces a white smoke. Once the engine again warms up the white smoke will stop.

GPCM ( glow plug control module) is the module that controls the glow plugs along with the PCM. It's located on the right ( passenger side) front valve cover. It has two large square connectors one is green and other is black.
there is a specialized tool set for removing and replacing glowplugs in a diesel durotorq head..but is you are a novice be informed that the durotorq diesel eniggne as fitted to Ford cars cand easily start with three even two and i have know them to start quite well on one working glowplug..the other option is to swap out the engine head for a good one with free glow plug orifaces..s
