You can, but shouldn't and don't need to. The thermostat is designed to keep the engine operating at a certain temperature. This temperature has been proven to make your engine run more efficiently, more power, better gas mileage, longer life, etc. If you live in a climate that has cold winters, this thermostat is part of what makes your heater work.
If removing the thermostat in order to help the engine run cooler in the event of overheating, you've got a different problem. A stuck thermostat will cause your engine to overheat, having a properly working thermostat will not. If your car has a new thermostat and still overheats-you've got a different problem.
A new thermostat for most cars is less than $15.
195 degrees F, + or - 5 degrees F with a 195 degree thermostat.
Sounds like the thermostat is stuck open. Try a new one.
later model 350's run thermostats around 195 degrees, but older 350's didn't run that hot of a thermostat. I've seen them as low as 160 to 180 degrees on older 350's.
That depends on the thermostat. If it's a 185 thermostat, the engine should run at 185. If it's running too hot, check the thermostat, radiator and water pump. If it's running too cold, replace the thermostat.
Huh?
I have a 1987 Chevy Silverado 350 tbi that runs just fine without the catalytic converter. I run dual exhaust from each side of the engine with glass packs, has more power and sounds great.......SES light comes on but will go off.......

Vehicle will run without a thermostat - however will not run as efficiently and will have not heat
