Yes you can but you must first make a few modifications. You will have to make sure that you have the computer and wiring from the v8, motor mounts in some cases, might as well get the transmission. From there you will have different things going on for different years. You may not even have to do anything I said depending on what specific year the car and the engine are.
Which engine, V6 or V8?Which engine, V6 or V8?
Depends on what engine (V6? V8?), transmission, gearing, etc...
Assuming you're referring to a base model Firebird, in 1988 there was the standard 2.8L V6 with an optional 5.0L V8.
Yes it will bolt right up to a V8.
Too much! Buy a V8
Which engine? V8 18436572, V6 123456, L4 1342 distributor rotation is clockwise for all.
sbc v8 engine, transmission with the correct sbc v8 bolt pattern, different exhaust system, v8 wiring harness, a better understanding of how to work on cars
yes, you just need to get new V8 engine mounts welded on the frame and have the old V6 ones cut out. you will also need a new fan shrowd and if its going form a chevy v6 to a pontiac v8 you will need a new wire harness new battry tray.
The 1986 Firebird came with either a 2.8L V6 or a 5.0L V8
The V8 engine has ( 2 ) more engine cylinders than the V6 engine
all u need to do is pull the v6 and the wiring harness out of the car and install v8 with new harness.. v8 will fit right in the v6 frame
V8
