∙ 8y agoDo any of your lights work ? or if the key is in the ignition and the drivers door is open do you hear the warning chime ? If not , it sounds like a bad battery cable connection or a dead battery
Since the chime is built into the lighting control module, you will not be able to just unplug the chime, so if you swish you can disable the key-in warning switch in the steering column. Remove the lower column shroud and find the single BK/PK wire coming from the kay cylinder area. Snip that wire, and you should be chime-less, at least as far as the key is concerned. It will still ding for ather reasons, like if you open the door with the lights on.
The only way short of rewiring your cars restraint system it to wear your seat belt. Not only is it the law in most state, it may even save your life.
i don't know why you wouldn't want to wear a seatbelt but you could go to a junkyard and get the male end from another vic and cut it off the belt and place it in the offending seatbelt end
Where is the ignition control module located in my 1992 Crown Victoria
Does your underhood light come on ? or if the key is in the ignition with the drivers door open , do you hear the door chime ? If not , it sounds like a bad battery cable connection or a dead battery
my 1985 ford crown Victoria ignition has locked up! what do i do?
To state the obvious - wear the seatbelt. There are reasons to disable the chime. 1. Turn key to accessories "on" 2. Wait for seatbelt light to turn off and then press the seatbelt release button 9 times. 3. The abs light then illuminates for 5 seconds, when it turns off, press the seatbelt release button 1 more time. 4. The abs light will blink to confirm the code was entered. 5. This must also be done on the passenger seat.
Take the bulb out.
8 -------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have a 1998 or newer Ford Crown Victoria that has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P.) ignition system there are ( 8 ignition coils ) as mentioned above Before that the 4.6 liter in a Ford Crown Victoria had ( 2 coil packs )
If the key is broken off in the ignition of the 96 Crown Victoria it will have to be picked out. If the key is out and broken, a locksmith can use the broken pieces to make a new key or rekey the ignition.
A worn ignition switch causes this. You did not turn the ignition off to the locked position. So you would not need the key to turn the car back on. Make sure when you take your key out you can't turn your car back on and then when you open a door it will not make a noise. Just a security feature.......?
