It's very difficult. It could be a 2 day project. First, have the rear on jack stands with the front wheels blocked. Have a drain pan ready. Remove the cover from the pumpkin, catch the oil, it's messy. Remove the wheels and brake drums so you can unbolt the axles. Do not lay the axles on the ground. There's quite a few pins and rings to undo before you can actually remove the gears. Remove the gears. Work in reverse after you install the new gears. Seal the pumpkin with gasket silicone, but first scrape the old crap off both sides and make it clean. Use a 3/8" or 1/2" drive ratchet to unscrew the plug. I'm not 100" on the plug size. Fill to plug hole with 10-80W gear oil.
There is no benefit to changing to a higher gear ratio. You don't gain enough torque to justify the increase in fuel consumption. You would be wasting your time and money.
