Since it has PassKeyII it is super easy. Measure the resistance of the chip in the key. Solder together some resistors that equal the resistance of the chip in the key. Open up the steering column, and look for two wires encased in plastic (I think it is usually orange or yellow). If you open it up inside and there are two small gauge wires inside you've found what you're looking for. Cut the wires and solder in the resistors, wrap it up, and put it back together.
Now you can use a $2 Wally World key instead of having to get a spare one from a dealership.

You might have to bypass the security system or replace it. GM used the Passkey I, II and III security systems.....bypass kits for these can be found on Ebay and some other car websites.
