The timing is controlled by the powertrain control module - not adjustable

It is not possible to manually adjust the timing in this vehicle. There is no distributor and the rotor is attached directly to the camshaft. Timing is handled by the motronic control unit. The unit directly controls the ignition coil, altering the timing as the vehicle is driven.

Gates ( they make timing belts etc . ) shows different part numbers for the 1994 and 1996 Ford Ranger 2.3 liter timing belts - so no
if it is DIS it does not matter.
