depends on your state laws on air quality, if you are in California you have to have one,if your vheicle is less than 20 yrs old check dmvca.org.gov or something like it for a department of motor vheicles laws and regulations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Regardless of State Law, operating a vehicle without a catalytic converter will cause the car to run incorrectly. Too lean which will cause you serious problems down the road. And I quote....... Besides being an illegal modification, removal of a catalytic converter is just as likely to decrease horsepower as it is to increase it. It's true that most original equipment converters create enough exhaust system backpressure to adversely affect performance so a straight pipe in place of a catalytic converter would appear to be the optimum configuration for maximum power. But appearances are often deceiving. Computerized engine management systems are precisely calibrated to deliver optimum performance with an exhaust system that offers some amount backpressure. When backpressure is all but eliminated, air/fuel mixtures can easily become too lean to allow an engine to produce maximum power. Reestablishing optimum air/fuel ratios requires a custom computer calibration, altered fuel pressure or both. Each vehicle has its own unique computer controlled air/fuel calibration so each responds somewhat differently to removal of a catalytic converter. Consequently, removal of a converter can result in a performance gain, a performance loss or no change at all. The question is, why contribute to dirty air and risk of a potential fine? Installation of a Super High Flow catalytic converter will allow an engine to produce maximum power while remaining emissions legal. http://www.randomtechnology.com/universal.html A can of worms is what comes to mind. I would think no way, but also no way would you pass an emissions inspection w/o catalytic converters. Here in Maryland it is a bi-annual inspection.
No
Yes
4
Look under the vehicle and count them.
4 2 left side and 2 right side
Ford F150 can have either one or two converters. Depends on the year and model, I have a 92 F150 Flareside 5.0 and it has 2 catalytic converters. My 03 F150 supercrew has two. One at the back of each exhaust manifold. The one from the drivers side enters a crossover pipe that T's with the passenger side at the back of the transmission on the passenger side.
There are not two catalytic converters. Working towards the muffler from the flange, you have a RESONATOR, a CATALYTIC CONVERTER and finally a MUFFLER.
They have 4...there is two on each side right before the Y pipe!
Mass airflow sensor and or aircharge sensor is bad
you cant, unless you have a oxy/acetylene torch take it to a muffler shop they're the pros
Yes it did.
