This was an easy fix; I just needed a little more information before I started.

Engine code 400.1 is telling you there is a leak in the evaporator emission system. When Autozone read the code and pulled up the list of items to check, the first on the list was the gas cap. I bought the cap for $10.00 but after 130 miles the code didn't clear. Next I went to Habor Freight and bought an engine code reader ($90.00) that would let me also clear the code (this was optional but helpful).

* 1. (This should be first on your list.) The next item on the list was the the evaporator canister vacuum hose. The hose is about 5" long with a formed L at one end; it is located under the van on the drivers side just to the back of the engine. Jack up the van high enough to crawl underneath it just behind the driver side front tire then put a jack stand under the van. When I crawled under my van voila there the hose was with cracks on both ends. I used pliers and a screw driver to loosen the hose clamps. Pull the hose off and take it with you to the dealership. Auto-zone didn't carry it and referred me to the dealer. The hose cost about $6.80; it would be a good idea to replace your hose clamps at the same time. One is a Teflon clamp and broke when I removed it.

I put my old gas cap back on but with the new caps gasket. The old cap fit better than the new cap. It's been about 3 weeks now and still no engine light.

Note: In Louisiana you can't get a legal inspection sticker if you just cleared the engine code but after an easy 100 miles you can.
