if you purchased the pickup when it was used then whoever owned it before you may have had the transmission and other things reprogrammed. If you have a tow/haul button that changes shifting conditions, but not by very much. The transmission can be reprogrammed to shift a little harder to reduce slippage or for kids who think they can have a faster truck... If it's a mechanical problem then that's a different issue...but if it isn't then i would look into finding out if it's been reprogrammed.
