My 89 jeep Cherokee surges at idle and sometimes stalls but runs fine once you are going what could cause this?
inspect the distributor gear.
Your idle air controle valve.

Check taillight/parking light sockets for corrosion short to ground
try your idle control valve also your fuel pump i had a problem similar to yours and it was the fuel pump
