There are two "valves". The heater control valve (YC3Z-18495-BA) located by outside of the body near where the running board would mount. In terms of front or back, it is closer to the trans. It is connected to the top of one canister that is connected by a long hose that goes to another canister located on the other side of the truck's frame. There is also a valve (YL7Z-19D963-BA) located in the climate unit behind and under the passenger side of the dashboard.
The best way to find the location of a part on your car is to go to Autozone.com Once there, create an account, add your car to "my vehicles." In search key in part you are looking for, to the left of the part you should see "View Job Diagram." Click on and a repair guide image showing location of part will come up. The diagram will show the climate control system for heater related parts such as the Blend Door Actuator, Heater Core, Heater Hose Clamps, Heater Motor Resistor, Heater Control Vavle, and Blower Motor.
Rockauto.com has the part for $55

It is inside the trans, on the vavle body.
The heater hose behind the engine have a vacuum controlled vavle in line. Often the vacuum line to this valve is off or broken. Have some change the heater control inside from hot to cold while watching this vacuum switch if it does not move that is the problem. i have also jammed something in the vavle to force in an always on way. If this is being moved by the inside control the heater core will need to be flushed. You can pick up a kit for that at any auto parts store, just block the hose with a vise grip that goes back toward the engine.
its located on top of the valve cover. its located on top of the valve cover.
Possibly the IAC ( Idle Air Control) vavle on the throttle body, or egr vavle stuck open..........would check or replace IAC first, usually not expensive.
