1990 olds cutlass ciera battery good when you turn the key not a click or anything?
this happened to my car and at first i thought it was the starter, but then i got a jump and it started. the next day i went to chekers and got the battery tested and the battery i had was supposed to be putting out 700 cold cranking amps (CCA's) and it wasnt so my battery was dead. even though my lights and radio turned on but the engine didnt start. so i would say go get it tested and get one with a warranty

Have the battery checked but it is most likely the cable connections, they become corroded over time and wont allow sufficient power to start the motor. Be sure you have a solid ground ( black wire ) clean it and tighten it if need be, and clean and tighten the red one, follow it down to where it connects to the starter and do the same. The click you hear is the starter relay so the car " wants " to start but i think it is lacking adequite voltage.

The 'click' is probably the sound of the starter solenoid, but if nothing else happens, either the battery is flat, or the starter motor is faulty. -First check battery charge with a meter, charge it if needed. The battery does not have sufficient voltage to start the car when it's cold. Have the battery checked out. If it still goes click click after running the car for a while, have the alternator checked also. A bad battery will not hold a charge and a bad alternator will not recharge the battery, (That is the reason to have the battery checked first). Make sure the connections at the battery are clean and tight.
