The purpose of the FSX SDK is to create utilities, new scenery, missions, and aircraft. And it is not necessary to install it, usually a FSX newcomer who is new to the simulator series won't even install the SDK initially. They may later install it and use it to create aircraft and scenery and utilities.

It is possible to actually blow up an airplane in Flight Simulator X. An add-on aircraft available at www.simnetwork.com can be blown up by turning on the lights. Go to downloads at www.simnetwork.com and click FSX aircraft. There's lots of pages so be patient when looking. Other than that, it isn't really possible to blow up aircraft. Guns, torpedoes etc aren't available in FSX as it is E-rated. However you can set engine fires and various other failures such as an altimeter failure.
Go to Flightsim.com and go to search and click file search library. Then under search for text... type in the aircraft you want and wait for the results. Find an aircraft you want and press download. After it finishes downloading just find the folder including the folders of model, sound and texture and then copy and paste it in your simobjects folder under airplanes and then find your aircraft on the FSX homepage and then you r ready to fly.
You can get FSX on your PC by having the 2 CD's that install FSX.
