The flyer
The first powered "plane" flown was the wright brother's plane the "Flyer", however gliders (in fact the Flyer was originally used as such) and even airships had already been used.
The first powered flight was in a plane designed by the Wright Brother's, who called it the Wright Flyer.
The first ever powered plane flight took place in 1903, using the original Wright Flyer. Exactly 100 years after the stunt, on December 17th, someone flew a replica of the Wright Flyer in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. It is said that some 25,000 spectators gathered to watch.
Orville and Wilbur Wright invented the Wright Flyer in 1903. They built the first heavier than air, aircraft that carried a person. A mechanic, Charles Taylor, built the engine that powered the 1903 Wright Flyer.
The Wright brothers' first plane was called "The Wright Flyer," or just "The Flyer."
The name of their first plane that flew in Kitty Hawk North Carolina in 1903 is called Flyer 1
