Will Georgia tax your Federal rebate money?

No. Your federal tax is not deductible from your income in determining state taxable income, hence any refund of it isn't included as taxable income.

Is your income tax return qualify as income?

In the U.S., your federal income tax refund does not count as taxable income for the next year. If you receive a refund from your state, and you itemized your deductions on the federal return, then the state refund will count as income on your federal return. (If you didn't itemize, then your state refund won't count as income.)

Do you pay taxes on your income tax refund?

A Federal income tax refund is not taxable income (for state or Federal purposes) in the year a taxpayer receives it.A state income tax refund for a previous tax year, however, may be another story. It will be Federal taxable income in the year in which the taxpayer receives the refund, if he itemized deductions on the previous year's Federal income tax return.Suppose a taxpayer files his 2010 Form 1040, and itemizes his deductions. Following the instructions for the 1040, he deducts $500 withheld as state income tax (shown on his W-2) in computing his 2010 Federal taxable income. He then prepares his state income tax return and discovers that he owes only $435 in state income tax, and is due a refund of $65 (the difference between the $500 withheld and his actual liability of $435). His actual state tax liability was only $435, but he had deducted $500 from his 2010 Federal taxable income, so when he gets the $65 refund in 2011, he must include it in 2011 income for Federal income tax purposes to make up the difference. However, if the state refund was for a tax year for which the taxpayer did not itemize deductions on his Federal tax refund (i.e., he took the standard deduction), it is not taxable income to him.

Will you get the refund even if you had no taxable income after all the tax credits?

Do you mean the stimulus payment? If so, then yes.

Can i file a tax return if unemployment was my only income?

Yes. Unemployment benefits are taxable income. If you had taxes withheld from your checks, you may be entitled to a refund.

will i receive a tax refund if i file a 1099 form?

Not necessarily. Whether or not you receive a refund depends on your taxable income and how much you paid the government during the fiscal year. Nothing else guarantees that you get a refund.

Is the economic stimulus check taxable?

No, the rebate check is an advance payment of a 2008 tax credit. The money is actually a portion of the refund or payment applied to the taxes you will file in 2009. Therefore as it is a refund check it is not taxable income.

I am working on my tax return and want to know how interest affect refunds.?

The income that was paid to you on an 1099-INT is taxable income. The interest paid to you will increase your overall income, which lowers your refund amount.

If you receive a refund on state income taxes that includes interest the interest is nontaxable if the refund is not taxable?

First, a refund of State Income Tax, was deductible when it was paid (and presumably taken as a deduction), and IS taxable when refunded. (You took a tax benefit when paying it, so you have to give back that same tax benefit when you get the tax (or some portion of it) refunded). I can see no reason that the interest wouldn't be taxable. Only certain interest, (from specifically declared but not all Municipal and some other bonds), is not taxable. Otherwise, the source of the interest does not effect it's character as interest, which is taxable. The fact it may be from a government doesn't mean much. Certainly lots of people get paid lots of things from the government that are taxable.

Do you pay taxes on refunds?

In the U.S., it depends on the type of refund and what's being refunded. Generally, if it's a refund of the price of something you purchased, it's not taxed, assuming the purchase was made from your income that was already taxed. If you receive a refund of state income tax, it may have to be included in your taxable income, but only if you claimed it as a portion of your itemized deductions in the previous year.
