If a credit card account has an outstanding balance that is defaulted on, the account will not be closed. The account will be charged to profit and loss, or sent/sold/assigned to collections, either internal or external.
A credit would take away.

This is determined by the companies credit card merchant. Most merchants take from 2-4 days.
It depends. If you are going to withdraw cash from your credit card through an ATM and then manually deposit it to your bank account, it would happen immediately. But, if you raise a request with the bank to arrange for the funds transfer from the credit card to your bank account, they may take 3-5 working days to process your request.
credit card information should automatically purge from your credit bureau 6 years from the date of last activity. ie) if you pay your account in full (nil balance) on June, 2012 (DLA=date of last activity) and you do not use the account, the account should purge on June, 2018
unless the owner closes the account then you can continue to maintain the account. if your name was added then the information pertaining to the account should show up on your credit report. if the owner closed the account and you can no longer use the account then you will have to reapply based on your own credit rating.
