If you don't receive a W2 by the deadline, you need to contact your employer and get another copy of the form in question. There can be several reasons that you didn't receive it such as moving and not giving them your new address, perhaps they had the incorrect address to start with. The employer is required to mail you a form but even if they don't it does not relieve you from reporting all income on your tax return. You will first need to contact the employer to get another copy. If they are no longer in business and can't be found you can call the IRS and see what can be done beyond that if they don't have the information.
I believe it today 31st of January 2011, it should have been mailed by that date.
The deadline to receive your w2 in the US is approximately 14 days after Jan. 31 (or around Feb. 14th). Companies have to have their w2 postmarked by that date not the date you receive them. If after the allowance give above and you have not received your w2, contact the payroll dept. of your company. Some companies are now issusing w'2 over the internet via their company websites (which are secure).
2/08/2011 no W2 from employer yet.

W2 income is pay that you have received from an employer who has taken taxes out during the year. You will receive a W2 at the end of the year so that you can complete your yearly taxes.
Yes, it appears to be: http://www.hrotoday.com/News.asp?id=184 The rule states that it is the deadline that an employer must have the w2 A) available for an employee to print or view electronicly. B) postmarked in transit to last known address. A W2 form can be received from your employer, who should write you one for income tax. This should be mailed out on or before January 31, which will allow you enough time to complete before the April 15 deadline.
