To boot from a CD or DVD on a Mac hold down the C key while the Mac starts up. IF a suitable operating system is available on the disc the Mac will use that. If there are problems with the Live CD boot try an alternative route such as Virtual Box (See links below) which can boot from the CD's ISO file copied to the Macs hard disc.
Yes you can, but only if the BIOS setting permits it. If it doesn't do it automatically you will have to check the "Boot devices" settings and make sure CD-ROM comes first in the list. You can check the BIOS settings at the point when you boot up the PC after it has been switched off. Switch on the PC and then, during the boot-up phase, you must keep holding down the 'Delete' key until the BIOS settings screen is displayed. Then find the "Boot devices screen" and use the 'Page Up' and 'Page Down' keys to ensure that "Boot from CD-ROM" appears 1st in the list and the Hard Disk appears 2nd in the list. Then save the settings and allow the PC to reboot. It will then check if there is a CD-ROM inserted in the drive. If there is a CD-ROM there it will try to boot from it. If you have made the PC's 2nd boot device the Hard Disk then, if there is no CD-ROM in the drive, the PC will go to the the Hard Disk to boot up. All that will happen automatically every time the PC is rebooted.
you will need to download ultimateboot CD and burn it to a disc and boot to the CD to fix your problem. also called UBCD for Windows
SIW is a free program that offers diagnostics for windows. There are also Live things you can download to a CD and use it when you boot up like Hiren's Boot CD.

Because, you didn't choose the CD drive like a bootable, or the CD disk is not bootable.
Missing or corrupt boot sector
Usually if you have a bootable CD in your CD drive it will automatically boot, if not you will need to change your BIOS settings so it boots from CD before attempting to boot from your hard drive. To do so on start up it says "Press Del to enter setup" so press delete. It should be in "Boot configuration" or "Advanced BIOS" and there will be options "First boot device" and "Second boot device" and so on, go to first press enter and then click across until it says CD drive. Then go to second and change it to what first used to be. Tada, save and exit BIOS and on restart you'll boot from the CD if there is one in there.
