A lot of people believe that Harold died by getting shot in the eye because the Bayeux tapestry shows a picture of this and people who were at the battle claimed it to be true.This is, however, a legend and apart from the Bayeux tapestry, there is virtually no proof that this legend id true. On the picture of Harold being killed on the Bayeux tapestry it features another man who some people think is Harold. It is probably more likely that king Harold was killed in the same way as his soldiers but there is no evidence supporting this. We also do not know who made the Bayeux tapestry as it may have been a French person who wanted William to sound great. It is really your choice what you think but there is more evidence that Harold was shot in the eye.

he was in The Battle of Hastings. he was king of England temporally in 1066 whe Edward the Confessor died without and heir to the Englsih throne. There was three people who fought for the crown. Harald Hardrada(a Viking), Duke William of Normandy, and Harold Godwinson. All were supposedly pomised the throne,but Godwinson was named and the other two retaliated. Hardrada attacked with Vikings at Stramford Bridge, England and lost. Then a month later on October 14th, 1066, William attacked at Hastings and won. Thus Duke William of Normandy is the English ruler, and now every King and Queen of England can trace it back to William

The story goes that Harald Hardrada had gone into a "berserkergang", a sort of temporary insanity where the person just keeps killing without any regard for his own safety. Because of this, Harald went into the battle of Stanford Bridge without wearing any armor, and he was shot in the throat by an arrow and killed.
