The shahada; first pillar of Islam; is regarding the most important faith. The first pillar is the witness that God is the One with no partner, no father, no son, no companion, and no resemblance. The belief in the oneness of God is the basic goal of all God prophet missions to mankind since Adam, including the prophets Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace upon them).
The first pillar is to testify that there is nothing worthy of worship and obedience except the One God (Allah), and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God. When you testify that there is no God except Allah (or the one God), you are Muslim by default. Islam is an Arabic word that means submission to God (or Allah) and its Arabic root is 'Selm' that means peace. Hence Islam is fulfilling peace, within yourself and with the inverse, through submitting your will to will of God.
Allah is not God only for Muslims but for the entire universe. The word 'Allah' is derived from two words 'Al' + 'Ilaah' which means "The God" which means that there is only one God.
Quran says (meaning English translation) "There is no compulsion in religion, truth is clear from error". So, no one is forced to believe in the Oneness of God, but it is the truth that left for your choice to believe in or not.
In another chapter of the Quran, when disbelievers asked who is God born to and what is God, then God revealed these verses in Surah Al-Ikhlas, chapter No. 112:"Say, Allah is One and only, the Eternal Absolute. He begets not, nor is He begotten; And there is none comparable to Him."
Shahadah is the basic, the most essential pillar of Islam on which all the other beliefs of Islam are dependent. There is No God but only ONE Almighty God (Allah) having No Partner, No Son, No Parents, No Associate whatsoever. He and ONLY He deserves worship
The Shahada is the Islamic Declaration of Faith and its vocalization gives Muslims voice to their beliefs (in addition to Surat al-Korsi). It is the same way that Christians say the Lord's Prayer or Jews say the Shema; it is a vocalization of their faiths.
it is what you say to become a muslim and you say it in prayer if you are a muslim
Shahada is not a prayer. It is the first pillar of Islam. It is the declaration of faith.
