Hiya, im 14 and am a swimmer:) im guessing by response you mean like your reaction to diving and stuff? If you are, this is my answer..

I use different types of stratagies and activities to help improve my reaction to make it as quick as possible. This is the main activity i like to use..

Put a bottle down on the ground, or anything quite tall and easy to grip.. either do this with a partner or on your own, if on your own stand about a meter away from th bottle. If with a parter both stand a meter away facing each other. Bend your knees and keep your hands behind your back, get somebody to blow a whistle or say go and try and grab the bottle as fast as you can.

the only other advice i can give is to just keep practising..

I hope this helps x!

in cometitive swimming, every millisecond is vital, so your reaction time diving off the block is super important.

you must be able to dive with your toes leaving the block less than a millisecond after the buzzer goes. that is dependant on your reation time because the faster you are able to react to the sound of the buzzer, the sooner you will be off the block and swimming.
