Sounds like a timing belt. Crank sensor has nothing to do with the engine turning over.

There are two fuse boxes. 1. Inside glove box with drop down panel in top. 2. Inside engine department on righthand side of the battery. Requires torx screwdriver to release to screws. Details of fuses on inside of lid.

One way for a quick check is.... Push far down on each of the 4 corners and let go, it should come straight back up and slightly down again just once. If it bounces more then proper checks are needed. Usually an accurate test but not flawless.

I just had the same problem in my Megane, after a lot of head scratching poking and proding and pushing it further down the channel. I decided to use a skewer i.e. a cheap one from tesco, that had a spiral effect on the metal, heated this up on the gas stove, ran outside to the car and gently pushed on to the plastic top i could see. left it to cool down for a minute or two and gently pulled it out. Jobs a good'en now i have to get a replacement, preferably a metal one. Phew.
