Emotions such as anger and fear will cause the hormone adrenalin to be released by the adrenal glands. Adrenalin affects the body in many ways; primarily it prepares the body for "fight or flight" increasing heart rate, blood pressure and breathing rate. Similarly, adrenalin causes reverse effects to other bodily functions which are decreased or slowed; such as digestion. By slowing or completely stopping digestion, the body will conserve energy to be used in defending against a threat or running away from it.

  • When a person is angry or fearful the body tenses; heart pounds; hormones heighten; adrenal gland and heart over works itself and the chemicals in the brain change and all these put together cause stomach acids to increase and some people either will over eat or not eat which can lead to food sitting in their stomach like a rock and not digesting properly.
