Why can urine smell like grape juice?

Urine can smell like Grape Juice and other acidic, pungent odours after consuming certain foods. For alot of people, this happens after eating asparagus. One nice fact is that only 22% of the population can actually smell the odour so most people, if you're using a public restroom, won't smell it. For others, eating asparagus produces urine that smells like rotten eggs, skunks or other nasty things!

After eating asparagus just two hours before, I went to the bathroom and I noticed, my urine had a noticeable grape juice scent. Not a bad odor at all but, unusual to say the least.
