It is a time in history that shows what afeudal society does to 90% of the people. When the government is run by the Church people loose rights and the ability to think freely. The "dark ages" is called that for a reason because people couldn't read or write. There were no schools or training for people. They were told what to think and how to think it and if they didn't they were punished. A educated population can NOT become slaves for king or Church because they know how to think, organize, and fight back with words. If we don't look at history and learn from it we are doomed to repeat it.
