Dallas Winston (Dally) - Dallas Winston is the toughest from all of the greasers. He grew up in New Yorkand was in some of the toughest and scariest gangs. He is the main troublemaker in this whole book and has been in and out of jail quite a few times since he was just 10 years old. He is the only member in the Greasers whose hair isn't greased, and has blond hair that is so light, it could be white. He has had a very hard life and hasn't been brought up properly. He doesn't have any respect for the law, and gets drunk very often. He lies, cheats, steals, robs, and even jumps little children. Nobody messes with him because he is as tough as he looks. He doesn't have a care to the world and to him, stealing and robbing isn't a bad thing. However, Dally can be very different as well. His friends can count on him and always feel protected when he is around. He helps them without even worrying about himself. He puts his own life at risk and sacrifices everything for their protection. When Ponyboy and Johnny come to him for help he gives Ponyboy his jacket off his own back and gives them everything that they need. He supports them and coaxes them to do what he says to stay safe. Also when Johnny was telling Ponyboy about when Dally took the blame for what Two-bit had done to the school windows, you can tell that Dally really cares about his friends. Dally is a true hero and has a very soft heart, but from his looks and behaviour, you would never know that.
The toughest of the greasers, got arrested at 10 years of age, doesn't take no for an answer and no one has ever said no to him, he is mean and likes to mess around with girls. Not the most mature of the greasers....
Dally is one one the gang and one of the main characters. Hes the mean and tough one in the group and never does anything legally. Plus You Know he's a nice guy because he helps johnny and he always cares for him , and he is not really mean , he just acts tough so he wouldn't be ganged up on
Dally is the toughest of the tough in the gang. When he was a boy, he ran around with the local gangs in New York before moving. He has a long criminal record which he is proud of. Later in the book, he takes it upon himself to protect Johnny and Ponyboy when they get caught up in a murder. One day when Dally comes to visit Johnny and Ponyboy they go out, but when they come back, their place is on fire. They go and save the kids trapped on the inside. After about a week or two, Johnny dies at the hospital from the burns and Dally commits suicide by having the cops shoot him.
dally is ponyboys friend. he is violent and does illegal things around their town. but still cares and loves ponyboy.
