It is a baby English rabbit. They usually are white with a black stripe and black spots, but the rare breed is white with a brown stripe and brown spots. This amazing breed (in both colours) are often called Butterfly Rabbits because they have the shape of a butterfly on their mouth/nose. They have ears that stick up, and are often quite lively and playful (good for children) but sometimes cuddly and nice to hold. They don't really like being picked up because they feel frightened, but once they are finally in your arms, they feel safe and relaxed.
Rabbits must be cleaned at least once a week, given a bowl of pellets (not mixed fruits because they only pick out their favourites and don't get all the nutrition) a handful of hay and fresh water. In the evening (for their dinner) they should have a carrot, or some greens e.g. celery, apple, lettuce, cabbage. But don't give them too many treats. Two greens a week should be enough. The rest of the time, give them carrots. Too many leaves and treats can give them diarrhea.
Rabbits should have quite big cages to run around in (they must be able to stand up on their hind legs without touching the cieling) If kept outside, make sure it has fresh sawdust and straw, and perhaps a carpet over the top of the cage to insulate it and keep out the damp. If kept inside, make sure their bed is warm with sawdust and straw, but not too much, as they can get very hot indoors.
Rabbits love toys and things to do, so I would suggest getting a few toys. For example, at pets at home you can get very cheap rabbit toys. I have a baby English rabbit and I have bought it a ball that it can chew on, (good for its teeth) a plastic ball with a hole in the top.( you put treats inside, then the rabbit rolls it and attcks it until they come out of the hole), a little ring with some chewable toy carrots on and a rabbits face (this is good to play tug of war with. The rabbit grabs the ring and pulls, and I play with it and grab the other end. (don't worry- I don't pull hard, I let her win every time)) And I also have a little wooden tunnel it can go through and chew on too (very good for its teeth- wood knaws at teeth and they don't overgrow.
Give your rabbit plenty of attention- they love new things. Give them a new toy every month or do what I do- every morning when you see it make a different noise. Grunt or squeak, and your rabbit should listen intently. This gives them a feeling of being in the big wide world- different noises sybolyses different animals and beings.
When you hold a rabbit, place one hand under its bottom and the other hand holding its tummy/body. There are lots of different ways of holding rabbits, but my rabbit likes this one the best. She doesn't like being held upside down (like a baby).
If your rabbit makes strange noises eg. grunting it usually shows it is scared. If it does this, or thumps it foot, be quiet and leave it a while, going over to it and picking it up can scare it even more. Then when it has calmed down, go to it again (but quieter and slower, and just stroke it and comfort it) If it licks you, it means it is grateful to have you there. And if it rubs its chin on your hand, it means you are its property, it is marking its territory (scent)
Please take care of rabbits, because some people take them for granted and neglect them. They are just like dogs- they need all the attention they can get.
