All metals, if they do react with water at all, react faster in steam than in water. However, the metals that react SLOWLY with cold water are the metals from Group-IIA(Magnesium, Calcium, etc).

Iron, magnesium, and zinc are examples of metals that react slowly with cold water but vigorously with steam. When these metals react with steam, they undergo a displacement reaction with water to form metal oxides and hydrogen gas.

Some metals such as iron react with steam to produce hydrogen gas and what?

Some metals such as iron react with steam to produce hydrogen gas and metal oxides. The metal oxide is formed as a result of the metal reacting with oxygen from the steam.

What reaction do you receive when mix potassium magnesium manganese and water?

When potassium, magnesium, and manganese are mixed with water separately, they will undergo different chemical reactions. Potassium will react vigorously with water, magnesium will react slowly to produce magnesium hydroxide and hydrogen gas, while manganese will not react with water under normal conditions.

Which metals does not react with water?

Most metals do not react with water, especially at room temperature. It is easier to state which metals DO react with water. Those would be Li, K, Sr, Ca and Na. Those reacting with hot water (steam) would be Mg, Al, Zn and Cu. Most other metals do NOT react with water.

Why do metals like argon copper do not react even with steam?

Argon is not a metal so you cannot expect "metals like argon" to do anything!

Why does zinc react with steam and cold water?

Zinc does react with cold water - it just does so very slowly. Steam is water that is very hot and thus as with any chemical reaction, the heat gives the molecules more energy and so they react faster.

Does barium react with steam?

Barium does not react with steam. Barium is a highly reactive metal, but it forms a protective layer of oxide when exposed to air or water, preventing further reactions.

Does Lead react with steam?

Yes, lead does not react with steam. Lead is a fairly unreactive metal and does not undergo any significant chemical reaction with steam.

Will sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid react badly?

Yes, sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid will react vigorously when mixed together. The reaction between them is highly exothermic, producing heat and generating steam. It is important to handle these chemicals with caution to prevent violent or dangerous reactions.

Will nickel react with steam?
