To keep the nucleus situated in the center of the cell, keratin fibers link the nuclear envelope to cytoplasmic plaques on desmosomes and hemidesmosomes.

Keratin may be involved elsewhere well, but I am positive it functions in the aforementioned junctions, at least.

What makes your hair grow?

The keratin made by the hair follicle cells makes long fibers. The cells, growing just under the scalp, eventually die, leaving the keratin behind. This keratin, combined with the keratin left by many other cells, emerge from your scalp as hair.

How is keratin produced?

Keratin is produced by special cells in the skin called keratinocytes. These cells synthesize keratin protein from amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein. The keratin proteins are then assembled into fibers that provide structural support and protection to the skin, hair, and nails.

At what junction do nerves contact skeletal muscle fibers?

Motor neurons meet the muscle cells at neuromuscular junctions. Neurotransmitters are passed from the nerve across a synaptic cleft to the muscle to make it contract. Any damage to this nerve will mean that those cells will not contract (move).

What types of cells make up the nails?

My best guess is keratin, but I am not sure if that is the cells or the cells are inside the keratin.

What ar nails made out of?

They are made out of keratin. Keratin is made out of dead cells packed real tight.

The tough protective protein found in the epidermal cells is called?

The tough protective protein found in epidermal cells is called keratin. Keratin helps to provide strength and structure to the skin, hair, and nails.

The tough water-repellent protein found in the epidermal cells is called?

The tough water-repellent protein found in epidermal cells is called keratin. Keratin helps to protect the skin from dehydration and mechanical damage.

Do tactile cells anchor the skin to the body?

No, tactile cells are responsible for sense of touch, while anchoring of the skin to the body is mainly carried out by connective tissues like collagen and elastin fibers.

Individual hairs are columns of cells that died after becoming filled with?

What cells produce keratin and melanin?

Keratinocytes or squamous cells produce keratin and Melanocytes produce melanin, pigment.

What is the job of the keratin?

Keratin is a protein responsible for the hardening process(keratinised) that cells undergo when they change from living cells with a nucleus to dead cells without a nucleus.

What is the waterproofing protein found in the epidermal cells called?

The waterproofing protein found in the epidermal cells is called keratin. Keratin is a structural protein that helps make the skin waterproof and protective.
